June Newsletter
CURRICULUM ACTIVITIES: Our learning topic this month is ‘People who help us’, this provides an opportunity for our children to explore and learn about various individuals who play helpful roles in our communities. There will be lots of exciting activities such as role playing in a hospital- learning how to bandage arms, what does an X-ray of a hand look like on our light box etc. Throughout nursery, children will do age-appropriate activities, to develop an understanding of people of the world, using the seven areas of the EYFS curriculum. You can find planned curriculum activities outside your child’s care room.
Support at Home:- To support your child’s nursery education at home, perhaps there is family or friends that you can talk about their job roles? Look online at what the role of a fire fighter does- chalk some flames on the floor and use a squirty bottle to put the flames out – which is great for hand eye co-ordination! What does a dentist do to help teeth keep healthy? A good activity to do would be using cheap toothpaste to clean their dolls/figurines teeth.
SHOW & TELL: - As our topic this month is people who help us, we would love to invite any parents into nursery whose job is within this topic – Do you work in health care? Or perhaps is a police officer? Can you bring anything for show and tell (P.S we love dressing up!) Please do speak to a member of staff in the Pre-school or Foundation room for more details.
GOING TO FULL TIME SCHOOL:- Foundation stage staff have already started the process of the children’s transitions to big school, liaising with and inviting new teachers to come and meet your child here at nursery. We also provide schools with their record of attainment through the foundation stage curriculum, so they can carry on their progress working towards KS1. All our over three’s pre-school children will automatically transfer to our Foundation class room in September where visits will start shortly to prepare them. For any children leaving us, we require four weeks’ notice in writing (please email to us - office@abcchildrensdaynursery.co.uk) to be able to transfer the funding to school and close any accounts.
GRADUATION DAY-SAVE THE DATE:- For all our Foundation Stage children, leaving to start full-time reception class at BIG SCHOOL in September, we will be hosting a graduation party on Friday 18th July…we’re delighted that parents will be welcome to see their child receive their graduation certificate!! Look out for your child’s party invite within the next few weeks.
DAY NURSERY AWARD:- We are delighted to say we have won again the ‘Top 20 nursery award in Yorkshire & The Humber 2025 for the 3rd year running! A very big thank you to all parents, carers and families who have completed a review of the nursery. These really make a big impact on the team, hearing how we are doing! If you haven’t and would like to leave a review for the nursery and team, please do so on the ‘Day Nurseries’ website.
CELEBRATIONS:- On Friday 6th onwards is Eid-Al-Adha, which is a big festival where children will be taking part in a fun celebration in nursery!
