April Newsletter

CURRICULUM ACTIVITIES: April is a very busy month, as we welcome spring, and we start our curriculum activities around ‘Life Cycles’. Every year we have our very popular chick’s hatchery, where our children will see baby chickens hatch from the egg, which the children are able to handle and learn to care for, are arriving just after the Easter Holidays!  We are have our little caterpillars which all the children will be able to see the amazing life cycle of them change into beautiful butterflies! Have a look at the curriculum information posted outside the care rooms with details of their activities and ideas of how to support at home.

Support at Home: to support your child’s nursery education at home, watch out in the garden and fields for spring flowers blooming, birds building nests as nature springs into life due to lighter and warmer days. You may want to do a fun activity together, such as planting and growing seeds such as cress which is easy to do in bowl or maybe creating colourful pictures using flowers/leaves and paint to print. Please don’t hesitate to ask a staff member if you’d like more information or ideas.

EASTER HOLIDAYS: No funding is available for the two weeks W/C 31st March & 6th April, when children attending ‘funded only’ and ’38 term-time only’ sessions will be on holiday, 48week funded child will not be in the 2nd week. Any children ‘stretching’ their funding will attend nursery as normal. You have advised via the nursery app, please check your inbox.

BANK HOLIDAY CLOSURE: Nursery will be closed on Good Friday & Easter Monday, the 3rd & 6th April. Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter Weekend!

SUMMER TERM: Commences Monday 13th, April until Friday 24th July, when Nursery Education Funding resumes for eligible 9-month-olds, two-year-olds and all three and four-year-olds. For working funding, please don’t forget to renew your code every 3 months.

NEW NURSERY FEES: Following a full review of our costs to provide the high standard of care for all our children, new terms and conditions commence 1st April. Please ensure you have advised the necessary agencies, as it may affect any claims for support you may have.

FULL-TIME SCHOOL STARTERS: Please inform the Foundation stage team, of which school your child will be attending full-time from September, so we can start the transition process for your child. You can find out by logging on to the Kirklees Parent Portal on 16th April from 8.30am onwards.

Hope you have all got your first choice of school We wish you lots of luck!

HELLO & WELCOME: to Luca and Roman who join our Under 2’s room and to Jonah and Haaniyah who start in our Pre-school room. We hope you have lots of fun!

CELEBRATIONS!: We kick of the celebrations by starting with April fool’s Day on the 1st – lets see how many jokes can be played on the staff!! On the 3rd to 6th is the Easter holidays, Easter is a Christian holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. According to Christian history, Jesus was crucified on a Friday (Good Friday) and rose again three days later on Easter Sunday. Our children will learn the Easter story; do Easter egg hunts while getting very creative. April is also National pet Month which fits in nicely with our life cycle topic this month, give lots of love to your family pets, we welcome any children who wish to bring a photo and wants to talk about their family pets at circle time.  2nd April is international children’s book Day – we love books so hope everyone reads their favourite book that day! 7th April is World Health Day, take a moment to have a rest, chat with a friend/family, take a wonderful spring walk outside and have a breather. We finish April by lots of flags making, dressing up and doing role play as knights, dragons & princesses for St. George’s day on the 23rd April.
